Royal Winter Fair

Texture Paintings

My shitty texture paintings loool. But it was a good experience and ... reflecting back, I think I learned a lot about not only gouache, but traditional painting as well. (Who knew there was a special way to hold the brush??)

House on a Slope

I wasn't satisfied with my makeshift last-minute-just-throw-in-whatever-and-hand-it-in house on a slope so I redid it..... though i think it went kinda out of hand and ... it's not really on a slope any more............. but...................................... atleastihadfun

The very second (thefirstwastoouglytobeshown) edited version of my lil alien house on a slope. I didn't like it after 10 seconds.

So I redrew it and tried to add a bit more 'mood' to it.

LINE QUALITY. oneofmyfavouritethingstodoplsdon'tkillme.

Speed painted, as you can see. lul. There's still a lot more stuff that can be added to it, but I got lazy. kekeke. I personally prefer it before it was painted o.0

I suck at layouts. So I try to draw them as much as possible...

This didn't take as long as I thought it did..... that or maybe I'm not trying hard enough... LOL. It was really fun though. I enjoyed this assignment~

it's 3:04 AM and i'm staying up late msning lololol so i decided to post these up.

6 1/2 hours - 3 paintings... i had to redo them cuz they were ugly. I'm actually surprised that i was able to churn out so many in one day x____x


HERE. HAVE MY PINGPONG BALLS. -dumps-

 First ugly ball I did. I thought it was too small so i redid it......... turned out most of the examples were about this size...................................................................................................................

Second ugly ball that I did. It was obviously too big; and when I showed it to other people they all thought my first ugly ball was better, when I took like.. 1 hour for that one and about 3 for this. This reminded me of that ... white bird from angry birds:

My final ball that is not as ugly as the second one. I was like - looks decent.. i'm done! lol. but yea...definitely need to work more on gouache.

i actually didn't plan on sticking with this layout...but when wanted to change it it was already too late..i will work harder for the next assignment v _ v

 So here it is:

The way I place the images are the way the portfolio is arranged. i.e. the image on the left is placed on the left panel of the portfolio, vice versa for the right side.

So first off we have life drawings!

I went to the Mississauga Valley School of Art for my life drawing practice. It's pretty good but it's also pretty expensive. The life drawing class mostly pertains to lifeless zombies who will do anything to get into either Sheridan's Animation/Illustration program or OCAD or York.  ^^ b

It's important to note that if the portfolio pieces' subject matter are facing each other, in other words, INTO the portfolio and not OUT, it gives a better sense of unity. The last figure in red, placed on the left panel of the portfolio, is facing the first of my animal drawings (obviously placed on the right panel). Sorry I'm talking so much *sweatdrop* anyways...

So here you have my animal drawings! ... gorillas will haunt me for the rest of my life, but not as much as rhinos and camels. By golly were those challenging (but nonetheless, a fruitful experience).

LOLOL hands. Not exactly easy to come up with a pose that is simple and yet creative. hmm.. what can I say besides... practice, look at your own hand and construction lines and construction lines and construction lines...

Character Time!

Meet Julie. She's a nerd/bookworm/overlooked shy girl who loves to hide in her room and do experiments and work on homework and reports. Enough said.

Expression sheet, storyboard and moving onto household objects/layout.

Layout is .. not my strongest ^_^|| but it was a good experience. Next up, personal artwork.

And that is it! The end of my 10-flip-portfolio that took me 10 months. If you lasted through the whole thing, thank you for walking this tiring but amazing journey with me. Also, if you pass by me in the Sheridan hallway don't be afraid to say hi (:
